Built in 2008, 600 MINI Es launched the second round of electric cars from the major automakers. BMW deployed the MINI Es in major cities around the world. Those cars exposed thousands of drivers to the joys of electric propulsion, and those drivers informed subsequent BMW EV programs including the i3.
BMW allowed a few dozen MINI Es to remain in service well past their intended service life. They were put to good use in battery development, vehicle-to grid projects, and just plain old fun!.
Good bye MINI E, we’ll miss you, and thank you BMW for the good run!
